Step by step
Error: False downtime alerts
Jetpack’s Monitor feature alerts you when your site goes down, but it can send false alerts even when your site is online and running.
These false alerts often stem from connection issues between Jetpack and WordPress.com or the Jetpack CDN (content delivery network).
First, check your website in your web browser to confirm if it’s up or down. Then, reset the Jetpack and WordPress.com connection using the steps below.
1. Go to Jetpack > My Jetpack > Connection
2. Scroll down to the Connection section
3. Next to Site connected. Click on Manage.
4. Click on Disconnect JetPack
5. Click the Disconnect button
6. Click on the Connect button to reconnect Jetpack to your site
Error: Unable to connect to WordPress.com
One common problem you may encounter on Jetpack is difficulty connecting the Jetpack plugin to a WordPress.com account, which is required for the Jetpack plugin to work.
1. Check your website is publicly accessible, Jetpack requires this to work. For example, if your website is in maintenance mode (under construction), Jetpack won’t be able to connect.
2. If your website is public and available, try disabling your other active plugins or switching to a default WordPress theme to rule out any plugin or theme compatibility conflicts.
Error: Slow or non-loading website
Jetpack is a resource-intensive plugin. Its many features and bloated code base can significantly slow down your website loading time.
Consider deactivating the Jetpack plugin and replacing it with alternative plugins that cater to each individual function required for your website.
If keeping Jetpack, you should deactivate the modules you do not use using the steps below.
1. Go to Jetpack > Settings
2. Deactivate all features you do not use under all of listed tabs (Security, Performance, Writing, etc.)
3. You can also run an X-ray report and learn how to best optimize your website
Error: Incorrect statistics
Sometimes Jetpack statistics do not display accurately. The first step is to clear your browser cache and re-check, if that doesn’t work, you can reset the Site Stats module.
1. Go to Jetpack > Settings
2. Click on the Traffic tab
3. Toggle off the Site Stats modules under JetPack Stats
4. Wait a few moments, then toggle on the Site Stats modules to reactive them
Error: Website images do not load
The Jetpack Image Accelerator module, which serves images from the WordPress.com CDN, can cause your website images to not load. First, clear your browser cache and recheck. If that doesn’t work, reset the Image Accelerator module.
1. Go to Jetpack > Settings > Performance
2. In the Performance & speed section, toggle off Enable site accelerator
3. Wait a few moments, then toggle on Enable site accelerator again to reset it
4. Re-check your website images, if they’re still not loading, keep the site accelerator module off
Error: Publicize not working
Publicize, a feature that automatically shares your posts on social media, might stop working occasionally.
1. Go to Jetpack > Settings > Sharing and disconnect, then reconnect your social media accounts from under Jetpack Social connections
2. If the problem continues, it might be due to a plugin conflict. Deactivate your other plugins one by one until the Jetpack publicize feature starts working correctly.
