Zoho Mail is a professional email service provided by Zoho, offering custom domain email addresses and additional collaboration tools.
An MX (Mail Exchange) record is a type of DNS record that directs email messages to the correct mail server for your domain.
Before you start
✅ You must have an active Zoho Mail subscription. If you do not, purchase your email subscription through the Zoho Mail website before completing the steps in this guide.
⚠️ To activate Zoho Mail email on your domain, the domain must be registered, connected to your hosting account, and use our nameservers.
🚨If you use an external DNS or CDN provider (e.g., Cloudflare), activate your Zoho Mail MX records through their dashboard. Use this guide only to generate the records to put into your DNS provider.
ℹ️ Updates to MX records may take up to 24 hours to propagate across the internet.
Step by step
❗Before starting, make sure you have already purchased an email subscription from Zoho Mail.
1. Log in to your hosting control panel
2. From the top right, click the down arrow ∨ and choose the domain you want to activate Zoho Mail email for
3. Click on the MX Records button
4. Go to MX Template, click the down arrow ▼ and select Zoho Mail
5. Uncheck the box next to Affect Pointers
6. Click the Save button
7. Make sure the box next to ‘Use this server to handle my e-mails‘ becomes unchecked. If it doesn’t, uncheck it and click the Save button.
8. Your domain’s MX records will automatically update to Zoho Mail email, activating it on your domain. Here’s a visual example of the final page:
