Definitions
Storage usage: The amount of space your website files and data take up on your hosting account. This can be referred to as ‘disk usage’ as well.
Storage capacity: The total amount of space available for your website files and data on your hosting account. This can be referred to as ‘total disk capacity’ as well.

✅ By managing your storage usage, you can improve the performance of your hosted websites and apps.
⚠️ If your account exceeds its storage capacity, your account will stop working. You’ll need to delete items, upgrade, or buy a new subscription.
ℹ️ Each hosting subscription comes with a set storage capacity, that is pooled across your account for websites, emails and all hosted data.
Step by step
Check your storage usage
1. Log in to your hosting control panel
2. Click on the Stats / Errors Logs button
3. Click on the Usage Statistics tab
4. Look for the Disk Usage row. Your storage usage and capacity are both indicated. In our example, our storage usage is 251.9 MB and our storage capacity is 20 GB.
Reduce your storage usage
Below are strategies to reduce and optimize your storage usage.
1. Clear unnecessary emails: If you use email through your hosting service, over time, trash, spam, and old emails can accumulate. Regularly clean out your inbox, and email folders. Make sure to empty your trash and archived emails frequently.
2. Delete unused files: Periodically review the files on your hosting account. Remove any old backups, unused images, or duplicate files. You can view and delete old files from your hosting account file manager.
3. Delete old backups: If you take manual backups, storing too many backup files can consume significant storage. Set a deletion period for your old backup files, keeping only the most recent versions.
4. Optimize database storage: Regularly clean up your databases by removing old logs, transient data, and outdated records. Use optimization tools or plugins to keep your databases running efficiently.
