Create an email forwarder
Definitions
An email forwarder automatically sends all the emails you get at one email address to a different email address.
Before you start
✅ Email forwarders are handy for consolidating your email in one place for efficient email management.
⚠️ Email forwarding only works if your source email address, or the email you’ll be forwarding from, exists on your hosting account. Your destination email address should exist as well, although it can be external.
📥 Catch-all email is not available, but you can use email forwarders to direct all messages from your email addresses to your main email address.
ℹ️ Email forwarders are meant for low-volume emails. High volume can trigger spam filters and cause unreliability.
❌ Do not create email forward loops, which ping-pong messages back and forth endlessly.
Step by step
1. Log in to your hosting control panel
2. From the top right, click the down arrow ∨ and choose the domain you want to create an email forwarder for
3. Click on the Email Forwarders button
4. Click on + Create E-mail Forwarder
5. In the New Forwarder Name field, put in the prefix of the email address you want to forward emails from. The prefix is the part before the @ symbol in your email address. We want to forward emails from [email protected], so the prefix is info
6. Click the + Add button
7. In the Add Destination field, put in the full email address you want to forward emails to. We want to forward emails to [email protected], so we will type that in.
⚠️ Note: Forward to external emails (Gmail, Yahoo, etc.) in small volumes only. For large volumes, consult the external email provider documentation to see if direct import and sync of emails is an option.
8. Click the + Add button
9. Double-check your email forwarder. The source and destination addresses must be accurate and typo-free.
10. Once reviewed, click the Create button
11. Your email forwarder will now be active and listed on your Forwarders page. If you ever need to change the forwarder, you can click the Modify button to apply changes.
12. To delete an email forwarder, check the box to its left, click Delete, and follow the prompts to confirm the deletion
