Use IMAP and SMTP to connect your email to email apps

Definitions

Email apps: Also known as email applications or email clients, are software programs on your device that let you use IMAP and SMTP to add and manage your email address.

IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol): IMAP is a standard protocol that email applications use to retrieve messages from a mail server, allowing access to emails from multiple devices without downloading them locally.

SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol): SMTP is a protocol for sending emails across the Internet, so your emails are correctly routed from your email application to your recipient’s email server.

Before you start

✅ You can connect your hosted email on any email app that supports IMAP and SMTP connections.

⚠️ Your IMAP and SMTP ‘password’ is your email address password. If you don’t remember it, you can change your email address password.

🚨In 99.9% of cases, email connection issues occur due to incorrectly inputted IMAP or SMTP details. Double-check and correct them if necessary.

Step by step

1. Open your email application on your device

2. Go to add a new email account

3. Enter your full email address

4. For the connection type, select IMAP

5. Put in your IMAP settings:
