Create a subdomain for your domain name

Definitions

A subdomain is a separate part of your main domain used to create distinct sections or websites. For example, shop.cloudhelpcenter.com could be a subdomain of cloudhelpcenter.com for online shopping.

Before you start

✅ The domain name you want to create a subdomain for needs to already be pointed and connected to your hosting account.

ℹ️ Subdomains are separate domains where you can install WordPress to build a new website or create a domain redirect for.

⚠️ If your domain name uses external DNS (Cloudflare, etc.), create an A record for your subdomain, point it to your hosting account IP address, and allow 24 hours for DNS propagation.

❌ You cannot create email addresses for subdomains.

Step by step

1. Log in to your hosting control panel

2. From the top right, click the down arrow and choose the domain you want to create a subdomain for

Note: If the domain you want to create a subdomain for isn’t listed, complete these steps before continuing: Add a new domain to your hosting account

3. Click on the Subdomains button

4. Click on + Add Subdomain

5. In the Subdomain field, type in your subdomain prefix. In our example, we want to create shop.cloudhelpcenter.com, so we will type in shop (Note: Leave the Document Root selected as Default).

6. Click the Add Subdomain button

7. You will see your new subdomain listed. At this point, you can start using your subdomain, either by installing WordPress to build a new website or creating a domain redirect.
