Definitions
An email tracking log lets you see details about both sent (outbound) and received (inbound) emails, including delivery times, delivery status, and subject lines.
- Inbound email refers to any email that you receive from others.
- Outbound email refers to any email that you send to others.
Before you start
✅ Your email tracking log is your source of truth to determine email delivery.
⚠️ You can only select a date range in 7-day increments (168 hours total) when viewing your email tracking log. All timestamps are shown in Eastern Standard Time (EST).
ℹ️ You can view both inbound (received) and outbound (sent) emails in your email tracking log.
Step by step
1. Log in to your hosting control panel
2. Click on the Email Tracking button
3. Click the Range field, and select a time range in the calendar
⚠️ Note: You can only select a 7-day date range (168 hours total) when viewing your email tracking log, with all timestamps in Eastern Standard Time (EST).
4. In the Domain field, type in the domain name associated with your email address. In our example, we want to pull up the log for [email protected] so we will type in infoceptor.com
5. In the Address field, type in your full email address, for example: [email protected]
6. For the State dropdown, do not select anything, leave it set to Select so that it shows all emails within your selected time range
7. In the Show dropdown, select Inbound to review only received emails or Outbound to review only sent emails. You can also set it to Select to see both Inbound and Outbound emails.
8. Click the Search button
9. You will now get a full email tracking log based on your specifications. You can review your email tracking log, below are some points to keep in mind.
- ➡️ Direction: You’ll see if your email is Inbound or Outbound.
- ➡️ State: You’ll see if your email Delivered or Failed.
- ➡️ Actions: You can click the info icon to view in-depth details.
